Welcome to the Mariaville Lake B&B Blog
So, now that you have landed on this page, what would you do if you booked a stay with us? Several options come to mind.
The most obvious is to settle into a comfortable Adirondack chair, glass of wine or beer in hand, watch the lake and the geese and, if you're lucky, bald eagles! We had a couple from the Netherlands who spent many happy hours just watching the chipmunks scamper.
Kayaking and canoeing on Mariaville Lake is sweet! It's fun to see everyone's house and folks are friendly. We'll be happy to give you a lesson before you shove off.
When you are rested you can take a drive to Schoharie County and visit Howe Caverns, a pretty cool place open all year round. They now have zip lines and a rope course which looks pretty awesome. The Iroquois Indian Museum is right next door to the Caverns, too. There are all sorts of historical places around here. The Capital Region was settled (by Europeans) way before the Revolutionary War.
If a little night life is more your speed, Schenectady and Albany have good restaurants, theater, and live music. I am particularly fond of MOPCO, the Capital Region's premiere improv troupe. If you need a good laugh, Friday night with MOPCO is the place to be.
Sunday is Schenectady Green Market Day, and going to the Green Market is a guest favorite. Loads of vendors, live music and truly the best pesto anywhere.
I feel like I have just scratched the surface when it comes to things to do and with your great searching skills I'm sure you can come up with some more ideas!
